Rara Lake lies in Mugu District, Karnali Zone and far western north part of Nepal. This trek begins from the mountain airstrip of Jumla after flying from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj, the trail passes through green countryside. Rara Lake Trekking is one of the finest trekking route in Nepal for adventure enthusiastic. Rara Lake is located at an altitude of 2,990 m (9,810 ft) surrounded by snow covered Himalayan peaks, pine, west Himalayan spruce, Oak, Rhododendron and black Juniper forest. The whole part of biggest lake in Nepal can be seen from the Murma top along with most of the villages in Mugu. Rara National Park is considered as one of the finest parks in the world and is an ideal habitat for musk deer, Himalayan black bear, leopard, Himalayan goral, and other exotic animals. The major attraction of the Rara National Park is the largest lake of Nepal. Rara lake trek is not so hard and not so easy. The best month fir this trek is March to October and September to November.
