Namobuddha- Panauti hiking is one of the best hiking that takes you to the very beautiful Buddhist stupa of Namobuddha (1982m.) Situated on a hillock above Panauti. Namobuddha is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site as well as a favored stopover for trekkers. There is a legend behind the reverence of this place. According to the Buddhist legend, the King Mahasattva gave his body to a hungry tigress at this place. After the Namobuddha visit we have short hike and drive to Panauti; one of the finest existing specimens of an all Newari settlement in Kathmandu. It possesses a number of interesting temples, one of which perhaps is the oldest in Nepal. It is a junction of Roshi Khola and Pungamati Khola. Panauti was once a junction of important trading route, but today, it is just a quite backwater retained and restored its architecture.
