The Gosaikunda Trek is the closest trekking route from Kathmandu, It is a beautiful journey into the Langtang region of Nepal, offering a supper panoramic views of the high Himalayas, lakes, rich in flora and fauna, and cultural heritage. Gosaikunda trek area has many sacred lakes, mainly, Ganesh Kunda, Bhairab Kunda, Goainkunda, Saraswati Kunda, Surya Kunda, and more. Gosainkuda Lake is a holy lake situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters (14,370 feet), valued by both Hindus and Buddhists.

The Gosainkuna trek starts after a day bus journey to Dhunche. It crosses the river and forest of rhododendrons, bamboo, and oak below to the Gosainkunda. A short walk around the lake and toward the Lauribinayak Pass is exciting.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Kathmandu – Dhunche (2030) > 6-7 hrs drive Scenic drive through Kathmandu valley rim, Trishuli River valley, and Kalikathan Views of lush terraces, rice fields, hills, rivers, and villages along the way Overnight: Tea house or lodge in District headquarter Dhunche.

Day 02Trek start from Dhunche to Chandanbari (3,250m) > 5 to 6 hours trekGradual flat an hour and ascent through rhododendron and pine forests Enjoy stunning views of Ganesh HimalVisit an old Buddhist monastery in a small village. Visit to Yak cheese factory and taste fresh yak cheese Overnight: Tea house in Sing Gompa village

Day 03Chandanbari to Gosaikunda (4,380m) > 7-8 hours trekGradual climb through forest and alpine area. Views of Langtang range from Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and distant Annapurna peaks. Arrival at Lauri binayak, Gosaikunda Lake, a peaceful and sacred lake. Explore surrounding smaller lakes such as Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda. Overnight: Tea house just to a hill of Gosaikunda Lake.

Day 04Gosaikunda to Dhunche (2,030m) > 8-9 hours trekAfter almost a gradual 2-hour walk, descend back to Dhunche via Lauribinayak and Sing Gompa. Opportunity to enjoy panoramic mountain views along the descent. Overnight: Tea house in Dhunche.

Day 05Drive Back to Kathmandu > 6–7 hoursAdventurous drive back to Kathmandu with scenic landscapes. Arrival in Kathmandu and trek finish.
